need to replace the blue grey and white button stickers

Postby eagle eye » December 13th, 2009, 12:42 pm

hey everyone, like the title says, the grey, blue and white stickers for my buttons on my chest box are starting to weather away, it looks like a sticker. Does anyone know how to replace these , I sure would appreciate it thanks.

EagleEye
find your local plastic shop in the yellow pages. every city has at least one, I can counf five just here in town.
Call then and tell them you need colored plastic 1/8" thick, the guy on the phone will ask how big and tell him the size squares you need, quanity, etc. Often they willwant you to pay via CC on the phone and will cut it on the spot and have it ready for you when you pick it up. Othewise they will "get to it" when you show up to pay for it, whcih can be hours. Plastic houses tend to be pretty busy places so they like to have them prepaid.

Anyway with a piece of colored plastic you wont run into the fading issue like you can with painted plastic. And you can polish it the same as the rest of your box. Polished mine up last night.

would it be better to put on a couple of coats of model paint , hand painted on and then covered with a good gloss?

You can gently pry off his squares since he uses a thin layer of goop. If you break them I can supply you with a set of those I use for my sets.

FWIW,

I've found at Wal-mart in the crafting section small mirrors (I guess for dollhouses). The bag sells for under $2 and will have several 1" squares. I've painted those.
