Putting the TIE Pilot kit together

Postby Brynjolf1963 » November 28th, 2009, 8:09 am

Well,

It is finally happening. Little by little, I'm assembling all the pieces I need to put my TIE Pilot's impression together. I've read the forums, done the homework and working within my budget, picked up a piece at a time. All that is missing now is to purchase the chest/back armor and the final assembly/wiring/painting, etc. (it's going to be my winter project).

You guys inspire me with your photos and can do attitude. Thank you all!

Best regards,
Bryn :TI

Hi Bryn

Sounds like you are getting there!
Just remember don't trust Evilbay for much of anything. Use our trusted vendors and expect that there will be a wait time involved. Sounds like you have been both patient and methodical in your construction, so this final wait will pay off in the end. I hope you have your IC together by now and can troop 501st in that .You will gain valuable insight as to what happens in troops, and what to watch out for (literally).

good luck!

Greetings all,

As previously posted, I am in the process of assembling all the bits and pieces of my TIE Pilot Flight Kit. In the meantime, I have all the things I need except my comlink (which will be here when it is done being cast), in hand. Is it possible to go to a Trooping Event as an "Off Duty" Pilot as depicted in this thread?

Best regards to all,

:palpy Unless stipulated by the event coordinator in your garrison for a given event, the off duty TI or deck officer is troop worthy. Be sure to check with them first. Also, once you are a legion member (this costume will get you your membership and tkid#) events done in off duty wear, counts toward your Ace of Aces thread.

And after a while yo may want to take your helmet and armor off to interact more with the crowd. Sometimes I do this to help manage the crowd or if it is just too humid to wear the helmet all the time.
I help out with an event held by a toy collector club, Redstick Rebellion, and I run several sessions of SW trivia, lego buliding and general helper during the day. Its a versatile costume for sure.

What if your membership status, is pending 501st approval?.
Would the troop count, when finally approved?.
And can it be any con?. Or just cons that have a 501st or local garrison attendance?.

:palpy Get the pics and add them even if they aren't Armor shots. Nothing prior to 2005 however.

Well well well, my TIE Armor/Chestbox got here from Imperial Armor yesterday and its freaking Great! I've got an old Don Post "standard" bucket, but I'm going to pick up one of Imperial Armor's "Stripe" buckets and put the Don Post away into the closet.

Step by step Im getting there. It's a labor of love.

Brynjolf out. :TI

You are going to love the bucket. Please see the thread about helmet earwell cracking...lets see if we can prevent any on yours.
